The Oscars - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

Now we don’t know about all of you but awards season is our FAVOURITE time of year, the dresses the drama and of course the diamonds!

Last night we saw the penultimate of the awards rounds up, the Oscars! Being biased,The BAFTAS are our favourite of the ceremonies, (bringing it home and all that) but The Oscars really is the air and graces, imagine being able to go to Elton's party instead of watching it on E! ... one can dream!

Anyhow, on to the important stuff - how they all looked! With all the events and award shows leading up to the Oscars, we feel that when it comes to dresses you really should leave the best still last, so with amazing gowns being displayed at the Baftas, SAG and so on, we just couldn't wait to see the round up for Sundays show.

Now we aren't going to say the dresses where a disaster, but let’s just say it was a lot easier to choose the disappointments than it was the show stoppers.

The Good;

Fay's firm favourite, Jessica Chastain.. YOU GODDESS. At a loss for enough great words to say about this girl, she was the epitome of glamour and class; the colours, the red lips everything! If we could change one thing?  loose the extensions, she didn't need the added length in her locks to rock this look.

Charlize Theron; two people wore Couture Dior and only one rocked it! Well done you! Charlize looked statuesque, so  beautiful and radiated sex appeal.  We can’t not mention her new 'buzz cut' as the lady herself described it!  Charlize urged women to try it claiming it was "so freeing". Although you look beautiful, we'll take your world for it!!

Maria Menounos, the colour, cut and fit INCREDIBLE. Way too much inspiration from 'Hairspray' for the hair though. Unfortunate.

Amy Adams, Princess-Style at its best. Jennifer Lawrence take note. Nommi's favourite; I believe an actual gasp came out of her mouth when first viewing this dress, followed by a jealous sigh. It embodies everything she adores when it comes to fashion; femininity coupled with old-school elegance of yesteryear, accompanied by her black tie beau - perfect. We're thinking Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra.

Lily Collins at Vanity Fair was striking. The colour was divine, just the right amount of shimmer and the slicked back hair and minimal make up complimented this perfectly. Our winner of the after parties!

The Bad...

Jennifer Lawrence nailed the SAG with her amazing deep blue Dior gown, struggled at the BAFTA's in shimmery pink and flopped at the Oscars.  The gown itself was a stunning creation but just screamed wedding dress a little too much.  We understand its every girls dream to channel 'princess' on the red carpet but it was all a little too 'pouffy,' something the dress and Ryan Seacrest's hair had in common.

It made manoeuvring the carpet tricky and climbing to stars to collect her award even more of a struggle.  Que embarrassing fall in front of the world! That said we love Jennifer, she’s a girl after our own heart, gets to hand out with Bradley Cooper and bagged that award!

Anne Hathaway; would be difficult firstly not to mention Anne's nipples. They were present and ready pretty much the entire evening.  Again, Anne had given so much promise in her previous dresses we felt this pale pink number was such a let-down.  Let it be said she looked striking, so effortlessly beautiful but we just wanted more! We would love to see Anne in a gown like Amy Adams wore, with her fair skin and raven hair she would be like a modern day snow white.

Kristen Stewart. Someone get this girl a shower and some shampoo pronto. Why does she always look so dirty!? Her stylist from the twilight premieres are obviously out of office.  She’s gone from winning to loosing. And fast. Too fussy, to frilly, just too too much for Kstew to work with. We actually feel sorry for the dress - it's a beautifully delicate dress, justice has not been served.

Zoe Saldana. Confused. Fit was stunning, could cope with the frills around the bust line, but the belt, bow and tiered front, all a bit Eh? Not to kick her while she’s down, but can someone please direct her quick-step to the nearest fro-yo stand, this girl needs a meal. To throw her a bone, we must say - her skin is phenomenal.

The Ugly...

Catherine Zita Jones... so beautiful from afar but up close your just an old bird wrapped in tinfoil.  Way to much make up, way too little dress and not enough personality.  What’s happened here!? Catherine could have stolen the show in Hollywood glamour and simplicity, but this is just a bit too fussy and dare we say it, young? We did feel sorry for her though when she was shunned by Seacrest at her request of doing the 'Manicam.'

Hedi Klum. PUT YOUR BOOBS AWAY. Seriously, put them away.

Nicki Minaj. This isnt a frat party and it’s not ok to wrap yourself in toilet roll as an Oscar dress. Not even for you. No.

I think we’ll leave it there for now; Miss Minaj  is enough to stop anyone in their tracks.

What were your favourite looks from the red carpet?

Taking the first bite...

Well we guess firstly we should give you a little introduction and explain what and who exactly BOA are…

Our names are Nommi and Fay; a beauty and all-things-luxury obsessed pair who have been joined at the hip since we first met in 2008. With professional experience in the beauty industry and a plethora of experience within the luxe (or so our credit card statement tells us), BOA was born out of a love for the finer things.

Utilising the only means known to 21st century girls, the blogosphere, BOA is a platform for us to review and share the many brands, products and delights we have encountered over the years – we know being able to connect with someone else through the trials and tribulations of things in the beauty world is a massive help and luckily for you, we always find ourselves on some kind of adventure; even when backpacking in South East Asia we managed to find a hidden corner of opulence.

Our aim is that BOA is quite literally a fountain of knowledge for all of our readers... Beauty, Style, Lifestyle Culture, Travel we'll do the lot and hopefully help you find some hidden gems in whatever genre of luxury you’re seeking!

We wouldn’t have been able to find half of the amazing products suited to our skin types and styles if it wasn’t for Bloggers. In a fast-paced, ever changing world of style, hot-spots and must-haves, we take the pain out of prep-time:  BOA is your constant.  With both of our skin types, hair types, body shapes, food loves, food hates and  thrill-seeking levels being diverse (it’s a wonder we’re friends), we’re offering you two for the price of one. Lucky for you, we’re also going to throw in some guest bloggers (our very own talented industry-based friends) to give you that added backstage access that any BOA girl needs.

Finally, we’d like to share with you the explanation behind BOA.

We were both born in the year of the snake; for those who are unaware the snake is renowned for loving extravagance and always aiming for the finer things in life (our parents tell us they couldn’t have written it better). This Chinese NY is coincidently celebrating our favourite reptile too, so what better time for BOA to be born.
